The dominant victory over Darren till at UFC 228 raised Tyron Woddley's morale. The welterweight champion, who defended his reign for the fourth time by submitting the Englishman last Saturday (08), proclaimed himself the greatest fighter in his division of all time. The North American made a point of stating that names like: B.J. Penn, former lightweight and welterweight champion and Hall of Famer and Georges St Pierre, greatest champion of the welterweight division and former middleweight champion.

In an interview with the news site TMZ, Woodley remembered GSP, but had no doubts about putting himself ahead of the Canadian. “I am the greatest welterweight of all time. No disrespect to Georges St-Pierre, but I don’t have to fight him to prove it,” Tyron teased.

St-Pierre dominated the welterweight division between 2007 and 2013, the year in which he announced his retirement. The Canadian had nine title defenses, a record for his weight to date. He returned to compete in 2017, when he moved up the middleweight division, taking the Michael Bisping and walked away from the Octagon again.

In turn, Woodley became champion in 2016, when he knocked out the former champion Robbie Lawler at UFC 201. 'The Chosen One', as he is known, defended his position as champion on four occasions: Stephen Thompson twice, Demian Maia and, finally, against Darren till.
