UFC 141: Duel of giants closes the organization’s year

Ultimate will hold this Friday (30), in Las Vegas, in the United States, the last edition of the event in 2011. UFC 141 features in its fight program three Brazilians in action on the preliminary card and a duel of giants in the fight main event of the night. The heavyweights Brock Lesnar e alistair overeem will duel for the opportunity to win the right to challenge the Brazilian junior gypsy for the category belt.

Although the main fight is scheduled to last up to five rounds, both Lesnar and Overeem believe in an early end to the fight. “We’re not guys who give up. We are fighters, we want to end the fights. I will pursue this goal and I hope he does too, I don't see this fight going past the first or second round. Second round at most”, says Overeem. “We’re going in to put an end to the fight. I don’t see her lasting five rounds,” agrees Lesnar.

Brazilians at UFC 141:
The Brazilian crowd at UFC 141 starts early. Opening the preliminary card, Diego Nunes faces Armenian Manny Gamburyan. Known for his aggressive striking, the gaucho wants to find his way back to victory after the defeat to Kenny Florian in June this year. To do so, he will have to overcome the celebrated judoka who, after two consecutive defeats, needs to reaffirm himself in the organization.

Last-minute replacement at UFC Rio, Luís “Beição” Ramos didn't even have time to show off his skills in his debut for the organization. Knocked out by Erick silva 40 seconds into the first round in his only fight in the Octagon, the Nova União native from Rio de Janeiro sets out in search of redemption against Matt Riddle. “I am hungry for this victory and I will do whatever is necessary to obtain it”, declared Beição.

The third Tupiniquim athlete on the fight program is Júnior Assunção from Pernambuco, who will face off against Englishman Ross Pearson, winner of the ninth edition of The Ultimate Fighter, the UFC's reality show. “I asked and the UFC gave me the chance to fight a tough guy. I understand the risks, but I am aware of the rewards I will have if I win”, said the fighter.
