José Aldo signs contract with Flamengo

The Brazilian José Aldo, UFC featherweight champion, was announced this Wednesday as Flamengo's new signing. The announcement was made by the club's president, Patrícia Amorim, at the Rio club's headquarters. The agreement will be for 12 months and the debut will be at UFC Rio 2, scheduled to take place on January 14th, in the capital of Rio de Janeiro.

“It’s a dream that has come true. I have always supported, cried and followed Flamengo since I was a child and now being able to be part of this company is wonderful. It’s a moment in which I can achieve another goal in my career”, said the fighter, who received a personalized red-black shirt.

“Now I’m even stronger. I know that the immense nation will be with us. I would also like to take the opportunity to send a hug to all the red and black fans and ask them to attend on the 14th, as I will try to put on a show for you all”, called on the champion.

Besides José Aldo, other Brazilian athletes have already received support from football clubs. The most famous case is Anderson Silva, which has a current agreement with Corinthians. But Rodrigo Minotauro with the International, Thiago tavares with Avaí and Paulo thiago with Cruzeiro, they sponsored the teams in the first edition of UFC Rio, in August.
