Nurmagomedov says his 'dream fight' would be against St-Pierre

The confrontation between Khabib Nurmagomedov e Conor McGregor for the lightweight title at UFC 229 will take place on October 6, 2018, in Las Vegas. The Russian revealed that a duel against the Irishman is not his 'dream fight', but rather the former Ultimate champion, Georges St.Pierre.

The lightweight champion said he grew up watching the Canadian's fights and believes he is the best fighter inside and outside the Octagon.

“I grew up watching his fights with my father. He is the greatest athlete to ever compete in the UFC. Middleweight and welterweight champion. And I knew he wants to come and fight at lightweight, get this belt, make history, become three-division UFC champion. Why not? Me against Georges St-Pierre. If I beat Conor or if I beat Georges St-Pierre, which is better for my legacy? Maybe for money, it’s Conor, but for legacy, it’s Georges St-Pierre,” said Khabib.

Georges St Pierre stated last month that he wants to face the winner of the fight between Nurmagomedov and McGregor. “It would be a great fight. However, I fought at 77kg and gave up the title. I fought at 84kg and gave up the title. I don't think the UFC would allow me to fight for the lightweight title,” said 'GSP'.

At UFC 229, Khabib Nurmagomedov will make his first defense of the lightweight belt. The Russian remains undefeated in 26 fights in his MMA career.

Georges St Pierre hasn't fought since November last year when he submitted Michael Bisping and won the middleweight belt. Just a month after winning, the Canadian ended up relinquishing the title due to a health problem that prevented him from fighting.
