Marajó almost finishes, but suffers a comeback and loses
Iurri Marajó entered the octagon ready to score two consecutive victories in the UFC, something that hasn't happened since 2014. The man from Pará quickly took down Cory Sandhagen and put the armbar in place. The Brazilian reached out to stretch his rival's arm, who still didn't give up. After spending more than a minute with his arm outstretched, the American managed to get out of position, got on top and threw several punches at Iuri. The punishment lasted until the end of the partial.
At the end of the first round, Marajó needed help from the technicians to get up and already appeared to have a broken nose. At the beginning of the second round, the Brazilian was quickly taken down and with many punches from above, he forced the referee to end the dispute and declare a technical knockout.
Maluko fights evenly, but loses by decision
Markus Maluko started the dispute against Andrew Sanchez imposing your rhythm. The Brazilian varied the combinations of kicks to the body and face of the North American, who in turn tried to shorten the attack and respond with hand strikes. At the end of the partial, Sanchez managed to balance the dispute, working in the clinch and pressing Markus against the bars.
From the second round onwards, the fight plans became clear. Maluko wanted a straight fight, while Andrew sought the duel in the clinch, to throw short punches. Markus' kicks left the American's right arm red. However, with two minutes left in the session, Sanchez took the fight to the ground and kept the fight in the clinch, delivering short blows and scoring points.
In the third round, Markus wanted to show the reason for the nickname. He opened up the game, throwing kicks to the belt, punches and even risking spinning elbows. But, just like in the previous round, Sanchez fought the fight in the clinch and scored points. In the final minute, the referee placed the athletes back in the center of the octagon, but Maluko was already very tired. Andrew took advantage, scored points and took the fight with a unanimous decision from the judges (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).
