The American will face former UFC and WEC division champion Anthony 'Showtime' Pettis at UFC 229 on October 6 in Las Vegas. The card will be headlined by the division title fight between Khabib Nurmagomedov e Conor McGregor.

The North American was scheduled to face the Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 223 for title unification when, on the eve of the fight, he tripped in a studio while attending to the press and tore his knee ligament.
