Cara de Sapato shoots at Dereck Brunson: 'He knew he was going to be finished'

Antonio 'Shoe Face' would face Derek Brunson at UFC 227, but the fight was canceled after the American stated that he had suffered an eye injury. This would prevent him from fighting even on September 22, in UFC Sao Paulo. Even so, he accepted a duel with the Nigerian Israel adesanya, at UFC 230, November 3, in New York. In an interview with the website “Combate.com”, the Brazilian called his opponent 'lax'.

“He said he had something in his eye, but what I think is that he didn't want to see me. He said he had something mild…. As he has something light, he leaves the fight five weeks before the event and couldn't even fight on September 22nd, with three months left to go? I think he was really lazy about this opportunity, he knew it would be finished. In the last five fights, he lost three, so I think that was his fear, leaving with another defeat. He's looking for an easy fight. That's my vision. Unfortunately, because he is better positioned than me in the rankings”, explained Antônio.

Shoe Face at 28 years old he has a record of 13 fights with 10 wins, two losses and one fight without result. He became known after winning The Ultimate Fighter Brasil 3 in the heavyweight division in 2014. Antônio comes from five consecutive victories over Leonardo Augusto Guimarães, Marvin vettori, Eric Spicely, Jack Marshman and Tim Boetsch.
