José Aldo rediscovered his path to victory at UFC Calgary, held last Saturday (28) after suffering two consecutive defeats to the Hawaiian Max Holloway. However, shortly before the Brazilian stepped into the Octagon, a similar story happened. Joanna Jędrzejczyk, former strawweight champion who reigned in the division for more than three years, was also coming off two losses – the first of her career – to the current champion Rose namajunas. The Polish woman once again gave a good performance and beat Tecia torres at the show.

At the end of the event, with victory guaranteed, Jędrzejczyk congratulated Aldo. In the photo session afterwards, the Polish woman hugged the Brazilian and assured that the two will, once again, be Ultimate champions. “He is a legend, I am very happy because he is not a champion by chance and we will both return to the top, for sure”, said Joanna, transitioning from reporter Evelyn Rodrigues.
Currently, José Aldo has a record of 27 victories and only four defeats. He occupies second place in the featherweight rankings (up to 65,7 kg.), behind only Brian ortega and the champion Max Holloway. The Brazilian awaits the definition of the champion's future, as the Hawaiian recovers from a serious health problem. In the event of a possible interim title fight, the 'People's Champion' would possibly be chosen to face Ortega.
Joanna Jędrzejczyk is in a similar situation. The Pole has a record of 15 wins, two losses and is ranked first in the women's strawweight rankings (up to 52,1). However, as she has already lost twice to the champion Rose namajunas, she is waiting for a stumble from her rival to get a chance at the title again.
