Last Saturday night (28) was a party for Brazilian fighters. In addition to the victory of José Aldo at UFC Calgary, boxer Esquiva Falcão also shone. The man from Espírito Santo took no notice of Mexican Jonathan Gavira and knocked out his rival in the first round. The result maintains the Tupiniquim athlete's unbeaten record with 21 fights, with 21 victories, 15 of which were by knockout. The fight took place in the city of Kissimmee, Florida (USA).

The fight
Close to the chance to fight for the middleweight belt, Esquiva entered the octagon ready to achieve a quick victory. The Brazilian took the center of the cage and threw hard blows at Gavira's waistline. Still in the first minute, the Mexican went to the ground with a knockdown. The referee opened the count and Jonathan continued in the dispute. However, Esquiva went for new combinations of blows, which took his rival to the ground, already knocked out.
“None of this would be possible without the fans. I just want to thank everyone for motivating me to continue like this. I love every minute of it and I promise to entertain you all every step of the way”, celebrated the Brazilian boxer
The victory takes the Brazilian one step closer to the long-awaited fight for the WBA (World Boxing Association) middleweight belt. According to Bob Arum, CEO of Top Rank, the boxing promotion company that organizes Falcão's fights, the Brazilian will now have to have one more fight before fighting for the title. Esquiva will take to the ring on the same night that the current champion of the category, Japanese Ryota Murata, will defend his belt. If the two win, Arum guaranteed that the Brazilian will have the opportunity to fight against the Japanese.
