Chael Sonnen believes Colby Covington is reinventing MMA

The Bellator fighter assumes that there are many fighters trying to follow in Covington's footsteps, not just in the way of fighting, but in the way of self-promotion.

The interim welterweight champion, Colby covington, is considered the new 'loudmouth' of Ultimate. He promotes his fights with a lot of provocation towards his opponents, so 'Trash Talk' awakens two distinct feelings in MMA fans, you either love him or hate him. The first fighter to use this strategy was the Bellator fighter, Chael Sonnen. The former UFC man believes that 'Chaos' is reinventing the sport in the intense form of self-promotion.

“In many ways, he will reinvent the sport. People will start copying you. He's the first guy to come out and go, 'Look, I'm just looking to entertain you. If the UFC isn't going to bring me cameras, I'm going to hire my own production team, I'm going to pay them, but I'm going to bring this content to the masses,” Sonnen said about Colby.

Colby covington held his last fight in June, when he defeated former lightweight champion, Rafael dos Anjos, and took the interim welterweight belt. To unify the title he expects a confrontation with the linear champion, Tyron woodley.

Sonnen ensured that the villainous role he Colby covington adopted is working very well. This makes Woodley the good guy and ensures fans are interested in the fight and have someone to root for.

“Absolutely, this will probably be the match where I come out as the babyface, because just look at Tyron woodley. He makes a fool of himself any time he opens his mouth,” Covington teased.
