Júnior Cigano and Blagoy Ivanov are in the main fight of UFC Boise this Saturday

Ultimate goes to the state of Idaho, in the United States, for the first time at UFC Boise this Saturday (14). The show will have 26 fighters, 13 clashes and many debuts. In the main event, former UFC heavyweight champion, Junior Gypsy is looking for victory after a year away from the octagon against the former head of the WSOF category, Blagoy Ivanov who is having his first fight in Ultimate. In the co-main event, Ultimate's 'golden boy', Sage Northcutt returns to the welterweight division looking for a victory against Zak Ottow.

The UFC Boise preliminary card will feature two Brazilians, former flyweight champion Invicta FC, Jennifer maia and the former RFA champion, Raoni barcelos debut in the organization against Liz Carmouche and Kurt holobaughrespectively.

The main fight

The former heavyweight champion, Junior Gypsy dos Santos returns to Ultimate after a year away from the Octagon after being accused of using illegal substances by the US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA). In April of this year, he was acquitted of the doping case he faced at USADA and is trying to make up for lost time.

“The doping episode caused a nightmare in my life, it made me very sad. I sat at home and had nothing to do. You being accused of something you didn't do. I don't wish this on anyone. It’s a very bad feeling”, lamented Cigano.

With this, the Brazilian is looking for a victory over the Russian champion to have his redemption in the organization. Cigano is coming off a defeat to Stipe Miocic at UFC 211 in May 2017.

As for his opponent, the Russian champion in his Ultimate debut is looking for a victory to give his “calling card” to the fighters in the category. The sambo specialist has a record of 14 fights with 12 wins, one defeat and one unsuccessful fight. Blagoy Ivanov comes from a triumph over the Brazilian, Caio Alencar.

Brazilians debuting in Ultimate

The first Brazilian to step into the Ultimate Octagon is former flyweight champion Invicta FC, Jennifer maia. Maia hasn't lost a fight in over three years and is on a six-fight win streak. In her three most recent clashes, Maia won and defended her Invicta title twice.

Her opponent, Liz Carmouche, one of the first women to step into the UFC Octagon, in her fight that made history with Ronda Rousey. The fight was in February 2013. She played for Strikeforce, Invicta and UFC. The North American has a record of 17 fights, 11 wins and six losses.

Former RFA featherweight champion, Raoni barcelos He is the second Brazilian on the UFC Boise card and makes his debut at the event. The fighter had to wait to get a chance, the opportunity arrived last year, when he would face Boston Salmon in the UFC Sao Paulo, but his opponent was injured and the fight was cancelled.

The Brazilian has 12 fights and only one defeat in his MMA career. His last fight was a knockout victory over Dan Moret at RFA 45 in October 2016.

The Brazilian's opponent is Kurt holobaugh 31 years old. He has 21 fights in his career, with 17 wins and four losses. He is coming off a no-contest fight against Matt Bessette on the Ultimate Contender Series first season in July 2017.
