Prosecutors from the Clark County District Attorney's office in Nevada added two additional charges to the wrestler's alleged domestic violence crime. Nick Diaz this Tuesday (10). The complaint adds crimes of domestic violence by strangulation and crimes resulting in bodily harm. The American currently faces three felony charges and one misdemeanor.

Diaz was charged with felony strangulation and misdemeanor domestic violence stemming from an alleged assault on a woman claiming to be his girlfriend in Las Vegas on May 24.

Diaz's attorney, Ross Goodman, asked to review the additional charges, and the case was postponed until July 31.

In a statement, Goodman expressed surprise at the change in the complaint against Diaz. “We are surprised that the State filed an amended complaint in court this morning, as there is no new evidence to justify charging fees. Regardless, we are confident that this truth will come to light vindicating Mr. Diaz after a thorough interrogation exposing the alleged victim’s inconsistent and contradictory allegations,” he stated.

With the change in the case, prosecutors asked for Diaz's bail to be increased to $100. The reason was the severity of the alleged injuries and it was argued that the court should send a message that it does not tolerate domestic abuse. The judge in the case denied the request stating that Diaz should be treated like any other criminal accused of first-time domestic violence.

The UFC stated that it is conducting an investigation into the allegations and monitoring the case. Diaz was recently cleared to fight after serving a one-year suspension by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).
