after leaving Max Holloway of UFC 226, Ultimate is considering making an interim featherweight title fight between Frankie Edgar e Jeremy Stephens last minute. The news is from the “MMAJunkie” website.
MMAjunkie journalist John Morgan posted on his Twitter this Thursday morning (05):
“No official word from the organization, unfortunately, but I have spoken to several people who have told me that with Holloway-Ortega out, [Frankie Edgar] against Jeremy Stephens is being considered for an interim title at UFC 226.”
No official word available at this late hour, unfortunately, but I've spoken with multiple people who have told me that with Holloway-Ortega off, @FrankieEdgar vs. Jeremy Stephens (@LiLHeathenMMA) is being considered for an interim title at #UFC226.

Brian ortega would be the most likely athlete to fight for the interim featherweight belt, as he would face Holloway at the event. After all, he won Frankie Edgar just a few months ago.
If the clash between Edgar and Stephens is confirmed, they would meet for the second time in the Ultimate Octagon. Frank won a unanimous decision over Jeremy at UFC 205 in November 2016.
Stephens fights former champion Jose aldo on the UFC Calgary card. Edgar, meanwhile, doesn't have a defined fight at the moment.
