Renan Barão faces Scott Jorgensen at UFC 143

The UFC announced that the bantamweights Renan Barao (photo above) and Scott jorgensen reached a verbal agreement to face each other in the UFC 143, an event that will take place on February 4, 2012 in Las Vegas.

The Brazilian is one of the fastest growing names in the category. He has already had two fights for the UFC, beating the American Cole Escovedo by decision at UFC 130 and submitting the Englishman Brad pickett at UFC 138. The Nova União athlete had two victories in the same number of fights in the now defunct WEC before the merger with the UFC. Without losing for 26 fights in a row, the native of Rio Grande do Norte has the longest undefeated streak among the fighters currently signed by the UFC.

Jorgensen is considered one of the best bantamweights today. His last participation in the WEC was the defeat in the title fight against Dominick Cruz. Through the UFC, the wrestler knocked out Ken Stone at TUF 13 Finale and beat Jeff Curran by decision at UFC 137.

UFC 143 will be headlined by a fight for the interim welterweight belt between the Americans Carlos Condit e Nick Diaz. The provisional title will be put at stake due to injury to defending champion Georges St. Pierre.
