Without fighting since September 2012, former UFC welterweight title challenger Dan Hardy is thinking about returning to the Octagon. In an interview with the “MMA Fighting” website, ‘The Outlaw’ spoke about his return to the UFC. Today, the former fighter is a commentator for the organization.

“I think there is a change in the sport and maybe I was caught at the wrong time and I'm looking back now thinking that I really didn't show my best in the UFC and that's what keeps pushing me to have one more fight. Because I feel like I can set a much better example than I can now,” Hardy said.

The commentator believes he was caught by a trend among fighters at the time where to be an athlete it was necessary to become big and strong between training camps. “I think with the change in the sport, if you look at the welterweight division, there are a lot of lightweights there now. There are a lot of guys in the welterweight division who a few years ago probably would have been lightweights. You put yourself Mike Perry ou Colby covington alongside Gleison Tibau and they are approximately the same size. And then you look at the middleweights too, we have a former welterweight as champion. The destruction guys Kelvin Gastelum they are bigger than him because he has the speed and power”, I explain.

Dan Hardy has a professional MMA record of 36 fights, 25 wins, ten losses and one no result. His last fight was against Amir Sadollah where he won by unanimous decision in September 2012. He was George St. Pierre's challenger for the welterweight belt in March 2010, but lost by unanimous decision.
