St. Pierre suffers knee injury and Diaz fights for interim belt against Condit

Important change in the UFC 143 card, an event scheduled to take place on February 4th in Las Vegas, in the United States. The Canadian Georges St Pierre, who would defend the welterweight belt against Nick Diaz, suffered a serious knee injury and has been out of competition for 10 months. This is the second time in a row that GSP has postponed a title fight due to a knee injury.

Thereby, Carlos Condit, who was scheduled to face St. Pierre at UFC 137 and the duel did not happen due to the Canadian's first joint injury, gains the opportunity to fight for the interim belt against Nick Diaz. The news was announced this Wednesday by Dana White, president of the UFC, through his Twitter account.

“GSP ruptured his knee ligament and stopped for 10 months. Now, Condit will face Diaz for the interim belt, on February 4th, in Las Vegas”, said the top hat on the microblog.

PUBLICITY:

After the duel between Nick Diaz e Carlos Condit, the winner faces Georges St Pierre, probably at the end of 2012, for the unification of the category titles.
