Despite defeat at UFC Singapore, Donald Cerrone rules out retirement

The Ultimate veteran declared that he wants to continue fighting and plans two or three more fights in 2018

Donald Cerrone at 35 years of age he was defeated by the young fighter, Leon edwards No. UFC Singapore this Saturday (23). Soon after the fight, the veteran was asked about his retirement and 'Cowboy' assured that he wants to continue fighting for as long as the UFC and its fans want.

“I love my job more than anything you can imagine. I love getting in there and fighting. I’m going to fight for at least five more years, literally, or until the UFC says nothing more,” Cerrone confessed.

Cowboy has been fighting professionally in mixed martial arts since 2006. In his 12 years in the sport, he has accumulated 45 fights, 33 wins, 11 losses and 1 no contest. Before that, he had already fought 29 times in kickboxing.

When Cerrone made the switch to MMA, fighters were still creating their styles based on a skill set they were good at; a fighter usually came from a submission, submission or grappling background. Currently, fighters are being raised as mixed martial artists, fluent in the three general areas from the start.

The North American fighter confessed that he likes this adaptation and wants to continue testing himself against the next generation of fighters. “I love where the sport is going. I'm going to stay here and keep fighting until they tell me I can't anymore. This old dog still has a lot in me. I stayed there for five rounds and I have a smile on my face”, concluded Cerrone.
