Kelvin Gastelum admits to being Robert Whittaker's next challenger

The victory of the middleweight champion, Robert whittaker about Cuban Yoel romero at UFC 225 it was less than 48 hours ago, but the future opponent is already being studied. Special guest at the event in Chicago, Kelvin Gastelum stated that he should be the next challenger for the division belt.

“I wasn’t told I’m next in line, but I mean, who else would be in line? Chris Weidman, perhaps?” asked Gastelum.

The North American fighter comes from two victories over Michael Bisping and Ronaldo 'Jacaré' Souza. Kelvin had a loss to Chris Weidman in his last six fights.

“I am one of the most active middleweights fighting in the top 10 middleweights around the world. I've been winning. I mean, I lost one against Weidman, but of my last six I won five – not counting the no-contest,” he explained.

During the fight, Whittaker broke his hand, so his return may be delayed. Currently, Gastelum is seventh in the middleweight rankings and wants to get his shot at the title. Even with weight cutting problems, a new confrontation between the champion and Yoel romero is not out of the question.
