The Cuban Yoel romero was the last fighter to step on the scale during the UFC 225 weigh-in this Friday morning (08). Even so, the athlete weighed 84,3kg, which is 400g more than the category allows for a title fight. 'Soldier of God' was given two extra hours to try to reach the goal of 83,9kg, but by 100g he failed. Therefore, the main UFC fight in Chicago is not valid for the middleweight belt.

Romero fights the champion Robert whittaker for the second time. The first clash between the fighters was the unanimous victory of the North American fighter in July 2017 at UFC 213.
With the controversy surrounding the end of weigh-ins in the morning, due to the fighters not being able to make weight, Romero stated in an interview with the website “Combate.com”, “for me, it doesn't matter. It doesn't worry me. This is my job. If Dana says it's morning, then it's morning. If he says it's in the afternoon, then it's in the afternoon! I have no problem with that.”
