After seeing his reign crumble with three consecutive defeats, the Russian legend Fedor Emelianenko returns to the ring this weekend. Fighting at home, the “Last Emperor” will face the American Jeff monson In the event M-1 Global: Fedor vs. Monson.
After remaining undefeated for almost a decade, beating most of the world's top heavyweights and dominating the now-defunct PRIDE, Fedor signed a contract with Strikeforce. At the cage North American had a bad time, having been defeated by Fabricio Werdum, Antonio Pezão e Dan Henderson.
The veteran Monson has fought in all four corners of the world, in countries such as the USA, Switzerland, Israel, Brazil, Japan and Australia. The highlight of his career was the UFC heavyweight title fight, when he was defeated by Tim Sylvia at UFC 65. Fun fact: the last fight in PRIDE history was between Monson and Kazuyuki Fujita.
