Discretion is the best word that defines Rachel Pennington in the week of the most important duel of his career. The North American arrived in Brazil without attracting attention to challenge the champion Amanda nunes for the women's bantamweight belt (up to 61,2 kg.) in the main fight of UFC 224, also called UFC Rio 9, next Saturday (12), in the capital of Rio de Janeiro.
Without the usual provocations of big fights, the Brazilian's rival is all praise for Rio de Janeiro and Amanda nunes: “I'm very excited to fight here, I've always wanted to come to Rio de Janeiro and I've always wanted to fight for the bantamweight belt, so I see it as a situation where I'll win anyway”, stated the challenger.
Pennington also revealed that he has a good relationship with Amanda nunes and that Tecia torres, her partner and also a UFC fighter, is a friend of the Brazilian. But that won't stop her from trying to take the title from the Bahian athlete.
“We have a good relationship, Tecia is even closer friends with Amanda, I met her through sport. But business is business, friendship stays outside. At the end of the day, she has something I want,” she added.
UFC 224 takes place this Saturday (12), at the Jeunesse Arena, in Rio de Janeiro. The card features 13 fights with 14 Brazilians in action. Check out the full fight program for the show below:
