Max Fight debuted in style in the capital of São Paulo. The event, which held its tenth edition on Thursday night, could not have been better. The public attended in good numbers at the Ginásio do Esporte Clube Sírio and went home satisfied with the excellent 10 fights on the card.
UFC fighters Fábio Maldonado, Charles Oliveira, Felipe “Sertanejo” and the featherweight champion José Aldo joined Rafael Feijão and Eduardo Pamplona, StrikeForce athletes, and attended the show. Comedian Samantha Schmutz completed the list of VIP guests in the audience.
In the exclusive 10-sided cage, the athletes showed their heart and contributed to the success of the event. To give you an idea, of the 10 fights on the night, only two ended in the judges' decision, six were by submission and two by knockout.
Opening the night, Fábio Moraes from the Fight Co. gym did his homework by submitting Vagner Santos (Bronx's Gold Team) with an American at 2 minutes and 9 seconds of the first round. Afterwards, Charles Maicon gave the previously undefeated Kell Santos no chance with a devastating knockout 17 seconds into the fight.
Representing the female sex, Mylla Souza (Lotus MMA) and Sandra Maria (Macaco Gold Team) had one of the best fights of the night. Mylla was better at striking and dominated the actions inside the cage and returned the defeat by knockout suffered in August with a unanimous decision by the judges.
Out of the ring for almost 3 years, Serginho Vieira (Veras TK/Alliance) returned in style by submitting Guilherme Faria (Nikolai MT) at 3:30 of the 1st round. Magno “Cricri” (Team Nogueira) got past Marcio Nunes (Bronx's Gold Team) with a fair rear naked choke at 2min14s of the opening stage.
Rodrigo “Mamute” took no notice of Salvador Minniti (Power Lotus Team) and immediately took him down, passing the guard and attacking the foot on an American, forcing his opponent to give three slaps in the second minute of the fight.
Matheus Serafim (Gibi Thai) held off the explosive start of Levi da Costa (Pitbull/Gracie Barra) who started better. After getting the better of the exchange, Matheus took the fight to the ground, punishing his opponent until the central referee interrupted.
In the co-fight of the night, Viscardi Andrade (Gracie Fusion) and Marinho “Redenção” had a beautiful fight with both athletes alternating good moments in the fight. Marinho abused the blows to the waist line and managed a Knock down right at the beginning of the fight. Viscardi recovered and recovered the fall, finishing the first stage on top in a very even fight. A little better in the following rounds, Viscardi was declared the winner in a split decision.
In the featherweight title fight, Rony “Jason” (Team Nogueira) showed why he came and didn't give anyone a chance. Reginaldo Vieira (Heavyweight Gold Team/Família Furacão). Right at the beginning, “Jason” landed a powerful right swing, taking his opponent to the canvas, falling into his practice, Jiu-Jitsu, quickly reaching his opponent's back. After attacking the neck, Rony went for the arm, forcing Reginaldo to give up the fight.
