The revelation about McGregor's preparation was made by the fighter's own coach, Owen Roddy, in an interview with 'The BBC MMA Show'.

“Conor is crazy. He is very funny. Right after fighting Mayweather, he told me: 'There's a conversation for me to fight Khabib. Maybe I'll do it in Russia'. His idea was to imitate Rocky. He wanted to go to Siberia, train in the snow. He wanted to put one of those blankets over his shoulder. I cried laughing, but he was serious. That’s why we love him,” said the coach.

Roddy also analyzed Khabib's moment. In McGregor style, he says that the Russian 'deserved' to face the Irishman.

“A lot of people have been talking about this fight, and it seems like it is taking shape. The truth is that you earn the chance to face Conor McGregor. You have to deserve to fight him. Khabib has been challenging Conor, and is doing very well so far. I see flaws in his game, but he's setting the mood for this fight by challenging Conor. The confusion between Khabib and McGregor

The confusion began on April 4th when Khabib Nurmagomedov, who was in the main fight of UFC 223, on April 7, framed McGregor's friend Artem Lobov at the hotel where the athletes are staying. The Irishman did not like the Russian's attitude and accompanied by 10 partners, including Lobov, invaded the Barclays Center, where the UFC 223 Media Day would be held. Looking for Khabib, McGregor and his associates threw several targets at the van carrying the athletes (see video below). In the confusion, Michael chiesa and Ray Borg, who would fight at UFC 223 and were in the vehicle, were injured and removed from the show.

Immediately, the New York Police issued an arrest warrant for McGregor, who surrendered to authorities in the early hours of Friday (06). He was released on Monday after getting bail (09).
