UFC confirms José Aldo x Jeremy Stephens in Canada, in July

Now it's official! Ultimate confirmed this Friday (27) the return of José Aldo to the octagon. The 'People's Champion' faces the North American Jeremy Stephens at UFC Fight Night Calgary, an event that takes place on July 28, in Canada. The fight had already been verbally agreed at the beginning of the month, but it was only made official this afternoon.

According to David Shaw, international vice-president of Ultimate, Aldo was chosen to fight in Canada to 'compensate' the Calgary fans since at UFC 148 the Brazilian was scheduled to perform in the city, but was injured and left the event.

“Putting perhaps the best featherweight of all time, one of the best champions and pound-for-pound fighters of all time, on this card, that was calculated, because he couldn't come last time, so we wanted to give back this opportunity to the fans,” Shaw said.

In addition to Aldo against Stephens, Ultimate announced eight more fights on the fight program. Among them, the miner Matheus Nicolau who faces Dustin Ortiz on the main card of the show.
