With a career spanning 22 years and 40 fights as a professional, Vitor belfort He went through the entire MMA transition. From the prohibition of fights in several places in the USA, in the mid-90s, to the current super-productions. Even with the increase in popularity and fighters treated like Hollywood stars, the 'Phenomenon' is not satisfied with the legacy of the sport.

Belfort believes that promotions are more focused on entertainment than competition. According to him, the events opened up a lot of space for provocations and drama between the athletes.

I will certainly continue working with sport, I have a tremendous passion for this sport”, said Belfort on the Giro Combate program.

Vitor is scheduled to face Lyoto Mahida at UFC 224, an event that takes place on May 12, in Rio de Janeiro. The fight will be the 'Phenomenon' contract's last fight with Ultimate and, it seems, he will have to hang up his gloves at the end of the duel.

Belfort has a professional record of 26 wins and 13 losses. The Brazilian was the youngest fighter to win a fight in the UFC, in 1997, at 19 years old. He also won a heavyweight tournament, beating two opponents on the same night and won the light heavyweight belt in 2004.
