“They carry me, change my position. I fail every time I try to resist. My arms are like fresh cement on my body. My brain is in a heavy fog. I'm awake and conscious, but my body feels dead. I know what's happening, but I can't do anything to stop it. I have no voice or choice. I can only surrender and pray for it to end soon”, says VanZant, in an excerpt from the biography reported to the North American website MMA Fighting.

After the rape, the fighter was bullied by her schoolmates, who claimed that she had sex with several boys consensually. Paige even had to change her surname – Her given name was Sletten, but it was changed due to its proximity to the slang 'slut' ('slut'). In another episode, she found condoms hanging from trees in her backyard 'like Christmas decorations'.

Despite bringing traumatic memories in the book, VanZant says that the publication can help other girls going through the same situation.

“A huge reason I'm releasing the book is because I want to be an anti-bullying activist. This is the main wave I want to start with the book. The worst part for me were the bullies. It really made me feel a lot worse, that no one was there to support me.”
