Georges St. Pierre refuses Khabib's challenge: 'He has unfinished business'

Former middleweight and welterweight champion revealed that the Russian still has issues with the event and is not thinking about returning at the moment

As soon as Khabib Nurmagomedov won the lightweight belt (up to 70,3 kg.) at UFC 223, an event held last Saturday (07), in New York (USA), the Russian fighter left his enemies aside Tony Ferguson e Conor McGregor. The new champion aimed his challenge at Georges St Pierre, former welterweight (up to 77,1 kg.) and middleweight (up to 84 kg.) champion. However, away from the octagon since November 2017, the Canadian ruled out a duel against Khabib.

The Canadian is the biggest name in the history of the welterweight division where he reigned until 2013, when he announced his retirement. He returned to compete in 2017, for the middleweight belt, and won the title at UFC 217. However, a serious intestinal infection once again kept GSP away from the Octagon. Still in the recovery phase, GSP revealed that he would consider moving down the lightweight category and becoming the first athlete to hold the belt in three different divisions.
