The wait will be shorter than fans imagined. After the success of UFC Rio, the largest MMA organization in the world will return to the capital of Rio de Janeiro at the beginning of 2012. The event will be held on January 14th, in a location that has not yet been confirmed. The information was released by referee Mário Yamasaki on Twitter.

“UFC returns to Brazil on 14/01/12 in RIO”, wrote Yamasaki on the microblog. O SUPER FIGHTS verified the information with sources close to the organization and confirmed that the event is scheduled for the city of Rio.
Ultimate's return to Brazil should be UFC 142, and will be the second edition of the event broadcast by Rede Globo.
Other Brazilian cities may still have UFC in 2012
Excited about the success that his organization has been having in Brazil, Dana White, president of the UFC, also spoke about the possibilities of Recife and Brasília hosting editions of the biggest event in the world in 2012:
“We are still making some visits and negotiations, but yes, these cities are among the possible locations where we want to take the event next year,” said White, at the UFC 137 press conference for the Uol Esportes team.
