“I would like to say my respects to the Fabricio Werdum. It's an honor for me to fight such a renowned fighter, and I thank Werdum for accepting this challenge. It's a sport, and each of us tried to do our best that night. Training and fighting with Werdum is a great experience for me, which gives me the opportunity to develop further. I wish Fabricio returns to the octagon as soon as possible, and I will support him in each of his next fights, as I did before,” Volkov wrote on his Instagram account.
With the victory against Werdum, Volkov scored his sixth consecutive victory and reached third place in the heavyweight rankings. In turn, Werdum, who was third, fell to fifth place and was further away from a chance at the belt.
