“Now, calmly, my analysis is that there was a lack of patience. I didn't have enough patience to keep the fight the way I wanted. I won the first and second rounds, lost the third…. I couldn't recover so quickly, I set the pace in the fight, I took the initiative. The feeling I had was like a video game, when the energy drops completely, you become slow, you can't hit hard. When I got up in the fourth round, it wasn't to go to the infight, it was to rotate, breathe, recover... I thought: 'Let's get this over with'. It was anxiety, I have attention deficit. I could have taken it for points, for trickery, because I have experience. I say all this without wanting to take away from Volkov, who defended himself very well on the ground. It was my mistake of letting it go at the wrong time. I have this big heart thing, but it wasn't the time. The power hadn't come back on. It was a very serious, fatal error”, said Werdum on the Combate channel website.

Despite the defeat keeping the Brazilian away from his chance at the belt, Fabrício wants to start his journey in the heavyweight division again soon. The heavyweight is already aiming to return to the Octagon in August.

PUBLICITY:

“I want whoever is well ranked, I can't fight whoever is coming, it has to be worth it. I didn't think of a name. I thought about returning to the July 7th event, but it's still early, so I took that option. Maybe you want it in August. I'm still recovering, but the neurologist said the blows didn't affect my head. The UFC said that whenever I want to come back, I will,” he added.
