Tanquinho is caught in anti-doping and is out of UFC Atlantic City

Augusto Tanquinho is out of UFC Atlantic City, an event that takes place on April 21st, in the USA. The Brazilian was caught taking an anti-doping test and was removed from the dispute against Mareb Dvalishvili.

The exam was administered by the US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) on March 7, in an out-of-competition period. The prohibited substance found in the test was not disclosed, but the entity preventively suspended the fighter until the trial.

“The UFC organization was notified today that the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) has informed Augusto Mendes of a potential anti-doping policy violation stemming from an out-of-competition sample collected on March 7, 2018. Due to the proximity to the UFC fight, Mendes scheduled for UFC FIGHT NIGHT: BARBOZA vs. LEE in Atlantic City, New Jersey on April 21, 2018 vs. Merab Dvalishvili, Mendes has been removed from the card, and the UFC is currently seeking a replacement.

USADA, the independent administrator of the UFC's anti-doping policy, will handle results management and appropriate adjudication of this case involving Mendes. Under the UFC's anti-doping policy, there is a fair and thorough legal process assigned to all athletes before any sanctions are imposed.
