Amanda nunes challenged her compatriot Chris Cyborg for the UFC champions superfight. The Bahian, owner of the bantamweight belt (up to 61,2 kg.) took to social media to ask for a duel for the featherweight title (up to 65,8 kg.), held by Cris. She even stated that 'it would be the fight that the people want to see'. However, the 'Lioness' seems to have changed her mind.

Although Ultimate tried to schedule the fight between Cyborg x Amanda for UFC 224, on May 12, in Rio de Janeiro, the Paraná native asked to only compete again in July. With that, the show called Rachel Pennington to challenge Nunes in the capital of Rio de Janeiro. Now, with her third title defense scheduled, Amanda is thinking about continuing at bantamweight and rules out moving up a category immediately.
“When I sent a message to Dana White saying I wanted the fight (against Cyborg), there was no one in my division. I didn't even know if I was going to fight soon. I was worried about having to wait years, because I've been in this position before, waiting a long time for a fight. I don't want to go through that again,” Amanda told the podcast.UFC Unfiltered'.
“But now we have Rocky (Pennington), the Brazilian Ketlen (Vieira) and I feel like my division is starting to grow. If you pay attention, the division is going to be fantastic and now I have two challengers. I have Rocky and Ketlen”, he added.
With two future challengers in mind, Amanda nunes rules out the superfight against Chris Cyborg in a near future. On the other hand, it leaves open the possibility of combat at another time.
“There are many factors involved in this. My contract and her contract, they need to make sense to both of us in order for us to do this. It's nothing personal against Cyborg. When you become a professional fighter, you want to be the best and beat the best,” she concluded.
