“I want to make a good recovery, without rushing too much,” he said. “Maybe I'll take a few weeks off because I've been so involved in preparing this fight. I had to go through a lot of things. I need to start all over again and I’ll be ready for the next one”, added GSP.

The fighter also stated, in an interview with Sportsnet, that his return should only happen in 2012, at the end of January or beginning of February.

In turn, Firas Zahabi, coach of St. Pierre, explained how the injury was sustained.

“Once it cooled down, I knew I couldn’t fight anymore,” Zahabi said. “I have seen many injured athletes and I know that this type of injury takes between two and five weeks to heal”, he added.
