The beauty Mackenzie dern will make his debut in the octagon, this Saturday (03), against Ashley yoder, at UFC 22. But the North American, daughter of Brazilian parents, doesn't seem to mind having her first UFC fight at a big event.

In an interview with journalists at Media Day, the jiu-jitsu black belt, considered the organization's new muse, revealed that she feels good about the pressure before stepping into the cage.

“Without pressure, a diamond cannot be created. It needs pressure to create a diamond. I'm not afraid of this pressure, for me the pressure is even better, because I'll fight even better, I like high expectations, I like achieving my goals. I don't want to get to the UFC and be just another fighter, win one and lose another, fight more or less... of course, I'm here to improve, I know I'll be better in five fights than I am today, but I'm not thinking much about what others are thinking, I put pressure on myself, I want to do my best, I want to put on a show for the fans”, he stated.

Brazil or USA?

Without being intimidated by the weight of his debut, Dean revealed that the biggest difficulty before stepping into the cage was deciding which country he will represent. Daughter of Brazilian fighter, Wellington Megaton, with an American mother, Mackenzie was born in the United States, but always visited Brazil, a country where she lived for three years. With such a strong relationship in both countries, she preferred to declare herself as a 'fighter of the world'.

“That’s funny. My manager, when he needed to make the fight clothes, asked me: “So, which country are you going to represent?” And I replied that I didn't know, that I couldn't choose. And he told me to be an “International Athlete”. I'm going to be a world athlete (laughs). I was born in the USA, my father is Brazilian. I love Brazil, I have a great connection with the country. I have many more fans in Brazil than in the USA. The country where I was born has a very good quality structure, and there's no way I can stop being American, but there's no way I can stop representing Brazil, which has many great athletes. I'm very grateful to have a little bit of the two biggest nationalities in the fight: USA and Brazil. It’s impossible to choose one or the other”, said Dean, on the Combate channel website.
