About to lose his lightweight belt after not fighting since November 2016, Conor McGregor surprised everyone again. After Dana White, president of Ultimate, revealed that the event would strip the Irishman of his title, the 'Notório' responded quickly. He revealed that he offered to return to the featherweight division (up to 65,7 kg.), replacing the injured Max Holloway and face Frankie Edgar at UFC 222, an event that takes place on the 3rd, in Las Vegas (USA).

Through a long post on Instagram, McGregor revealed that he is ready to return to the Octagon and that he just didn't face Edgar at UFC 222 because, according to him, Ultimate had no deadline to raise the money for his purse.

“I'm going to fight again... I made my name available to enter UFC 222 and face Frankie Edgar when Max Holloway retired, but I was told there wasn’t enough time to generate the money the UFC would need,” he wrote.

Conor McGregor won the Utimate featherweight belt in edition 194, in December 2015, when he knocked out José Aldo in just 13 seconds. Afterwards, the Irishman announced that he would move up to lightweight and had the featherweight title stripped by the franchise. At UFC 205 in November 2016, he defeated Eddie Alvez to claim the lightweight reign. But having not fought since then, the show has already announced that it will hunt the Irishman for the title.

“I will fight again. Point.
I'm the best at this.
I made my name available to enter UFC 222 and face Frankie Edgar when Max Holloway retired, but I was told there wasn't enough time to generate the money the UFC would need.
I was excited to show up at the last minute and take down the last featherweight (who he hasn't beaten yet), without all the other stuff that comes with this match. Please respect the insane amount of work I've done outside of the fight game.
Besides the fight.
I am here.
It's up to them to come and get me. Why am I here.
Sincerely,
The Champion Champion™.”
