After two years away, Carlos Diego Ferreira returns with an overwhelming knockout at UFC Austin

Carlos Diego Ferreira He waited almost two years to return to the Octagon – due to a doping suspension – but the Brazilian released all expectations for his return in an overwhelming way. Closing the preliminary card of ufc austin, event held this Sunday (18), Manauara needed less than two minutes to knock out Jared gordon. The triumph marked the Tupiniquim athlete's 13th victory in 15 fights, while Gordon suffered his second defeat as a professional in 16 appearances.

The fight

Carlos Diego started the fight willing to make up for the long period away from competition. The Brazilian immediately attacked his rival and fired two illegal kicks at the American – he hit his opponent's genitals. After two interruptions from the referee, Manauara left to end the dispute. When the fight resumed, Carlos Diego combined a cross, dodged Gordon's attack and launched a jab at his rival. The North American felt it and went solo. From then on, he dominated the back and locked Jared's arms to unleash a series of punches until he achieved the knockout.

“Thank you everyone for coming. I lost two years of my life, but I'm back. Nothing happens by chance, and I'm healthy to do what I love. I still have a lot to show,” said Ferreira.

Quick fights on the preliminary card

In addition to Carlos Diego, four other winners didn't need long to have their hands raised on the preliminary card. Oskar Piechota defeated Tim Williams by technical knockout, alex morono, Roberto Sanchez and Geoff neal  they submitted Joshua Burkman, Joby Sanchez and Brian Camozzi, respectively, all in the first round. The only fight in the opening program that ended in the judges' decision was the women's duel, won by Lucie Pudilova against Sarah Moras
