Ever since Floyd Mayweather started flirting with the idea of swapping the boxing ring for the UFC octagon, Conor McGregor has maintained a certain amount of silence, only provoking his rival through social media. However, the Irishman spoke seriously about the matter for the first time this week. In an interview with reporters in New York, and reproduced by the North American website MMA Junkie, the Irishman declared that his rival would be “haunted” forever if he did not fight in the UFC.

For McGregor, Floyd should do the same as he did and change sports to face him. The UFC champion admitted that the North American would earn his respect if he signed to face him in Ultimate.
“I went to his game, so he should come to my game. I would do whatever I wanted with him in the octagon, but if he did that, he would have my respect and he would gain the respect of a lot of people. But if you don't, it will follow you for the rest of your life. He will be haunted by fans for not accepting the challenge of testing himself in the UFC. I said I was going to do it, I went there and did it. It’s his turn”, commented the Irishman, who spoke about his next opponents.
“I have some offers on the table. There is the interim champion who will emerge soon, a potential giant fight in Russia against a Dagestani (Khabib Nurmagomedov). Obviously, there is the trilogy with Nate diaz or even a fight with Mayweather. Let’s see,” he left in the air.
