UFC shows 'generous side' and donates R$64 to Instituto Reação, by Flávio Canto

The UFC is responsible for the biggest MMA event in the world, but the organization led by Dana White went beyond superfights or big commercial deals in Brazil. With an event scheduled for Belém next weekend, Ultimate decided to show its supportive side and help Instituto Reação, led by former judoka Flávio Canto.

​The organization, which was represented by Vice President of Athlete Development Reed Harris and Ambassador Rodrigo Minotauro, donated R$64 to the social project that serves more than 1300 children, young people and adolescents in Rio de Janeiro.

“UFC has supported Instituto Reação for a few years and I really think this is one of the best social projects we are involved in around the world. Flavio and his team have done a lot of good for these children who don't have the opportunity to learn life lessons. They have real mentors as teachers and I believe they are making a big difference for Brazil”, said Reed Harris.

For the ambassador Rodrigo Minotauro, participating in an action like the one on Tuesday afternoon shows the importance that the UFC gives to projects that help bring the sport to young people. “The UFC highly values ​​sport, not just MMA, and most of our fighters come from lower social classes. Instituto Reação is one of the most solid in Brazil, with a long experience and good work. From recreational to educational aspects, young people have the possibility of achieving high performance. We are very happy to be here today”, said Minotauro.

Relaxation with the children

The afternoon also provided a moment of relaxation with the young athletes, who demonstrated their knowledge of the sport to the UFC representatives.

“I have trained in martial arts my whole life and I know how important a project like this one is. Studying martial arts from an early age gives you a better path in life. UFC is grateful for the opportunity to be part of the history of Instituto Reação”, said Reed to the children in the project.
