UFC plans fight between Khabib and Ferguson for the linear title in April

Shortly after Dana White admitted that Conor McGregor should lose the linear lightweight belt, the UFC has forwarded the arrangement of the duel between Tony Ferguson e Khabib Nurmagomedov by title. The Irishman would officially lose the championship and the North American and the Russian would fight for the belt at UFC 223, which is scheduled for April 7th, in Brooklyn, New York. The information is from the Russian news agency TASS.

The expectation of Ultimate is that Khabib will win the title over Ferguson and be able to have a superfight with himself Conor McGregor in Russia in September. Rumors on the internet indicate that the organization has reserved a space for 35 people on Russian territory, with an eye on a possible duel between Nurmagomedov and McGregor.

Also according to TASS, the announcement of the duel and the removal of “The Notorious” as lightweight champion will be made during UFC 220, an event taking place in Boston this Saturday. The contracts for the duel would already be signed, but it is not clear whether Tony Ferguson will be promoted from interim to linear champion or if the linear title will be on the line against Khabib at UFC 223.
