Dana White announces Lyoto against Davis, but backtracks

Early this Tuesday evening, UFC president Dana White announced that the Brazilian Lyoto Machida would return to the Octagon against the undefeated Phil Davis at UFC 140, an event scheduled for December, in Canada. However, a short time later the manager backtracked, claiming that the North American was still in no condition to fight.

“I was hasty in announcing Machida x Davis. I just found out that Davis is still recovering from knee surgery. Sorry,” White wrote on his official Twitter.

Phil Davis suffered an injury during preparation for UFC 133, when he was going to face Rashad evans. At the time, Lyoto was considered to replace Davis, but the Brazilian refused to fight due to lack of time to prepare.
