Erick silva couldn't resist pressure from Canadian Jordan Mein and ended up suffering his fourth defeat in five fights in the preliminary portion of UFC Winnipeg, an event held on Saturday night (16). Opening the night of fights, the Brazilian had another weak performance and, with his sequence of setbacks extending, his place in the organization is at risk. The decision in favor of Mein came with one of the side judges scoring 10-8 in one of the rounds, which shows all the dominance of “Young Gun” over Erick.

The Brazilian now has four defeats in his last five fights, while his opponent achieved his first victory since 2014 and reached his 30th triumph as a professional MMA fighter. Mein was coming off three consecutive defeats and would probably be fired if he didn't win Erick silva.

The fight

Mein started the fight very aggressively, placing Erick against the fence and investing in kicks. The Brazilian tried to get the takedown, but was rejected and spent a good part of the initial round taking a long time, walking backwards and being forced to absorb hard blows from the Canadian.

In the second round, Mein took advantage of a hesitation from the jiu-jitsu black belt and put the fight down. The Brazilian didn't seem comfortable with his back on the ground and didn't even manage to complete a submission attempt. Meanwhile, the Canadian rained down elbows, which bothered Erick even more.

The third round was more of the same. With the Brazilian quite tired, Mein took advantage and was more methodical when applying his ground and pound, even as he also showed exhaustion. In the end, a dominant victory for Jordan Mein, who achieved his first triumph since 2014 and reached the 30th victory in his career.

Neymar's security is the highlight of the preliminary card

The highlight of the preliminary card was welterweight Nordine Taleb. The Frenchman, who became known for working as Neymar's security guard in Paris, needed less than a minute to achieve another victory in his career. He knocked out Daniel Roberts in 59 seconds with a combination of kicks and punches that knocked out the American, saved only by the central referee.

This was the second consecutive victory for Taleb, who had already beaten Oliver Enkamp in May of this year. The Canadian recovers once and for all from the setback he suffered to Santiago Ponzinibbio in February. Nordine also has triumphs over Erick silva. li jingliang and Chris Clements.
