Featherweight Marlon Sandro was accused, by his fiancée Tayssa Wuensche, of attacking her in the middle of a street in Catete, a neighborhood in the South Zone of Rio de Janeiro. Friends of the victim published photos in which Tayssa appears with her arm bandaged and a black eye and made strong accusations towards Marlon. The fighter allegedly threw blows at his partner, in addition to putting her out with a rear-naked choke.

In an interview with the Combate channel website, Tayssa explains what happened and admits that it was not the first time she ended up being attacked by the former Bellator fighter, but “never anything at this level”.
“I was with Marlon at the Flamengo game, and then he got angry for some reason. We had been drinking, but nothing much either. I didn't notice any absurd disturbances in him. He wanted to leave, and I said no. I must have complained or retorted that I didn't want to leave, and it probably turned into a fight, but I don't know why it took that proportion. He grabbed me by the neck, knocked me off the curb, on my street. When I woke up on the floor, I asked: “What happened?” And then he said that he had erased me, that I had slept. I asked him why he had done this and he wouldn't tell me why. I said: “But why are you doing this?” And he didn't say anything, he just cursed me. So he gave me the first blow, which was here on the ear, which is bleeding, it hurt my earring. And then I didn't understand. I kept asking why? He was upset, he freaked out. There wasn't a reason, there wasn't a fight, there wasn't a disagreement for us to get to this. It was simply his reaction. He loses his temper and I don't know where that came from (…) No (it wasn't the first time), but to that degree, it was. At that level, it was. The others were, therefore, light. I don't know if you can call it mild aggression, but it was something like that... Out of jealousy, he has pushed me, elbowed me in the stomach, but never to this degree. And always saying, “Ah, I know, I have to change, I get stressed…”. Never at this level of ending up with my face like that”, described Tayssa.
The Combate channel website received a statement from Dedé Pederneiras, leader of the Nova União team, in which the coach and businessman announced the immediate dismissal of the “Gladiator” from the team.
“I was taken by surprise on Thursday night with the photos circulating on the Internet. We have not yet been able to contact Marlon, but due to the seriousness of the facts, Nova União announces the immediate dismissal of athlete Marlon Sandro from the team”, commented Pederneiras to the Combate channel website.
Marlon was one of the oldest members of the team and helped with preparations for José Aldo, Dudu Dantas, Renan Barao, among other athletes. In addition to his remarkable stint in Bellator, the featherweight also fought in the Japanese events Sengoku and Pancrase, and had his last fight in August this year, returning to Shooto with a victory over Diego Jauregui by submission.
