the american Dan Henderson is back in the UFC. After leaving the organization in 2009 and becoming Strikeforce champion, the leader of Team Quest returns to the most famous octagon in the world for a national MMA classic. Hendo faces the Brazilian Mauricio Shogun at UFC 139, an event scheduled for November 19, in San Jose, in the United States.
The winner of the fight between Henderson and Shogun should have the chance to fight for the light heavyweight belt, which comes from the duel between Jon Jones, current champion, and Quinton Rampage Jackson.
Henderson is considered one of the biggest winners in MMA history. The 41-year-old American has held the Pride, UFC and Rings belts in his career. In his professional history, Hendo has accumulated 28 wins and eight defeats and is coming off an important triumph: over Fedor Emelianenko, in the heavyweight division, in July this year.
In turn, Shogun will have the opportunity to take an important step towards regaining the UFC belt. The Brazilian, who lost the organization's title in March, when he was knocked out by Jon Jones, has a record of 20 wins and five losses. In his last performance, the Brazilian athlete was not aware of Forrest griffin and knocked out the North American in the first round of UFC Rio, an event held on August 27th, in the capital of Rio de Janeiro.
Besides Mauricio Shogun, UFC 139 will also feature three more Brazilians in action: Gleison Tibau and Rafael dos Anjos do the Tupiniquim duel, while Vitor belfort will be the main fight of the show against the North American Cung le.
