The 17th edition of Bellator took place this Saturday (50th), in Hollywood. The event marked the beginning of the organization's middleweight tournament, where the winner will have the chance to fight for the Cuban's belt. Hector Lombard.
Only Brazilian in the GP, Vitor vianna had to fight three hard-fought rounds to win Sam alvey in the judges' split decision and guarantee passage to the next phase. The Tupiniquim athlete's opponent will be Brian Rogers, who knocked out Victor O'Donnel with a beautiful high kick
Still in the GP, the winner of the first edition of this tournament, Alexander Shmelenko, took no notice of the Croatian Zelg Galesic and quickly grabbed a guillotine choke to qualify for the tournament's semi-finals and dream of a rematch against Hector Lobard. His opponent will be Brian Baker, who defeated TUF veteran Jared Hess with very hard punches in the third round of the fight.
On the preliminary card, the other Brazilian present at the show didn't have the same chance to Vitor vianna, American Top Team jiu-jitsu coach, Marcos Parrumpinha from Rio was knocked out by Shah Babonis in the third round.
