Ellenberger surprises Shields at UFN 25

Brazilian Wagner Rocha wins his first UFC victory

After the success of UFC Rio, the organization once again promoted an event this Saturday night, in the United States. UFC Fight Night 25 arrived at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans with very busy duels. In the main fight of the night, Jake ellenberger surprised the favorite Jake Shields and knocked out the former Strikeforce champion early in the fight. The only Brazilian on the fight program was Vagner Rocha, who recovered from the defeat in his debut, and submitted Cody McKenzie with a rear naked choke in the second round.

After putting up a tough fight and losing the welterweight title fight to Georges St Pierre, at UFC 129, Jake Shields returned to the octagon ready to resume his journey towards the organization's belt. Ellenberger dominated Shields' neck and applied a series of two knees to his opponent, forcing the referee to end the fight. “This guy is a true champion, I can barely describe what I feel”, celebrated the fighter who has only five defeats in 30 fights.

Vagner Rocha wins first UFC victoryThe only Brazilian on the UFN 25 card, Wagner Rocha made his second appearance in the UFC and achieved his first victory at the event. Wagner started the fight with difficulties in his striking against Cody McKenzie, but then he turned to the ground game, his specialty, and dominated the fight. After taking advantage in the first round, “Ceara”, as he is known, went on to end the fight in the second round. After taking down the American, Rocha got to mount, on his back and ended the duel with a tight rear-naked choke.
