Former UFC light heavyweight champion, Lyoto Machida dropped down a category after defeat to Phil Davis, came close to winning the middleweight title, but currently, in a bad phase, questions about his retirement are starting to pop up, mainly due to his age: in May, the “Dragon” turns 40, and is coming off three crushing defeats. However, the Brazilian guarantees that the focus remains on the belt.

“I’m not thinking about retirement yet. I want to keep fighting. I want to be champion in this category. I dedicate most of my time to this. I believe I will only think about stopping when I no longer feel challenged. We have to recognize the merits of our opponents. Derek Brunson managed to impose its strategy very quickly. I had great preparation, an intense camp. Now it’s time to prepare for a new fight, a new challenge”, guaranteed the Brazilian.

In addition to the setback to Brunson, Lyoto was coming off knockout defeats to Yoel romero and finally before Luke Rockhold. The last victory of his career came at the end of 2014, when he knocked out CB Dollaway with a kick to the stomach in the main fight of UFC Barueri.
