Royler Gracie gets emotional in his farewell speech

Considered one of the greatest legends in the history of jiu-jitsu, Royler Grace ended his MMA career on Wednesday night. Despite the defeat against the Japanese, Masakatsu ueda, the Tupiniquim black belt did not hide his emotion when saying goodbye to competitions. Still in the Octagon, Royler attacked his critics and apologized for his performance.

“I wanted to apologize to the public. But being here at the age I am is much more difficult than watching it on TV”, said the 45-year-old fighter. “Anyway, a thousand apologies for the presentation, I may not have been at my best for this presentation, but I did my best”, added Gracie, who showed a lot of emotion in his farewell speech. “Regardless of the result, I’m very happy to be here… With my family, my brothers and everyone.”

Royler also took the opportunity to ask for support for fighters emerging in Brazil who need support at the beginning of their careers.

“Every year fighters come out all over Brazil. Let’s support our athletes,” she concluded.
