UFC welterweight champion, Tyron woodley does not hide the desire to face Georges St Pierre, former owner of the belt in his division and current middleweight champion of the organization. And the American is even willing to move up to middleweight once and for all, leaving his title vacant, to fulfill his dream of measuring up against the “best welterweight of all time”.

In an interview with journalists during UFC 218, Woodley said that he has already thought about moving up to middleweight due to the severe weight cut for welterweight, and that a fight with GSP would be the definitive incentive for the change.
“Before they announced that Georges St Pierre He has an injury, I considered moving up to middleweight and starting to fight in that category. I would leave my welterweight belt behind to fight for the middleweight title against GSP and stay there. I don't want to climb the weight-for-pound rankings, I want to fight Georges. And he’s not fighting in my category, so I would move up”, commented the champion, guaranteeing that he can compete well in the upper category, with some adaptations.
“I think I can compete with some of the best in the top division. I'll be much faster, I don't think they hit much harder than me. But guys like Chris Weidman, Jacaré Souza and Luke Rockhold, these brothers are bigger than me. I have to be creative, but I am a competitor and I would find a way to do what I have to do”, he analyzed.
