Even in the midst of mounting his defense for yet another positive anti-doping test, Anderson Silva appears to have redirected his focus to boxing again. And more specifically for a super fight against his idol and former champion Roy Jones Jr. After years of trying to face the North American in boxing, the Brazilian received the OK from Jones Jr., who also wants the duel to happen.

In an interview with the podcast “The Ask Gary Vee Show”, the boxer declared that the two are trying to close the superfight long before Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather have faced each other, and admits that setting this precedent could help him get the fight with Anderson:
"Me and Anderson Silva we have been trying to get a fight done long before Mayweather and McGregor even thought about it. We've been trying to face each other for nine years but they won't let us do it. Anderson and I could have faced each other a long time ago, when we were at our peak. But to this day, they won't let us fight. But as I know how important this is for Anderson, I would be willing to face him tomorrow if the UFC would let me,” commented Jones Jr.
Anderson, who counts the boxer as one of his biggest idols, responded to Roy, saying that the two had “the right” to face each other after so much time had passed.
“OK, Roy, this is all I’ve wanted for years, long before all this happened. It will be a pleasure to share the ring with you. I have a lot of respect and admiration for everything you have achieved in boxing and everyone knows that this is my biggest dream. Let's make this event happen. I think we have that right, this is something we both want to do. So let’s make it happen”, posted the Brazilian via his official Instagram.
