The UFC continues to expand its business around the world. After returning to Brazil in 2011 and announcing an event in Japan in 2012, the largest MMA organization in the world is already starting negotiations to promote an event in Italy.
This Wednesday, Lorenzo Fertitta, majority shareholder of the UFC, announced that he is in the city of Milan negotiating the move of his event to “Velha Bota”.
“A greeting to all Italians. We are in Milan working to bring the UFC to Italy”, said Lorenzo through his Twitter account.
Despite the growing global interest in MMA, Italy only has one fighter under contract with Ultimate. This is middleweight Alessio Sakara, who in 12 fights in the UFC, won six fights, suffered five defeats and has a “No Contest” (fight without result).
